Key Partnerships:

We currently have 3 couples serving over seas working with a variety of organisations.

  • Interserve is a Christian mission agency which aims to see ‘lives and communities transformed through encounter with Jesus Christ’ and is involved in mission across Asia, the Middle East and the UK.
  • YWAM(Youth With A Mission) is an international movement of volunteer Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Its purpose is ‘to know God and to make Him known’.
  • Compassion is an international Christian child development and child advocacy ministry. Partnering with local churches, it is committed to the spiritual, economic, social and physical development of children living in extreme poverty, enabling them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.  Unlike most of the organisations mentioned here, Compassion is not supported from the church budget but individual church members and friends are encouraged to sponsor children in Uganda through this agency.  The goal is that we will support as many children in Uganda as there are children at Broadmead!  Currently, 67 children in the Lira area of Uganda are being funded through this initiative (and other children elsewhere are also being sponsored by members).

International Christian agencies and organisations linked with Broadmead include:

  • BMS World Mission is a Christian mission organisation, working in around 35 countries on four continents. BMS personnel are mainly involved in church planting, development, disaster relief, education, health, and media and advocacy.  BMS believes in holistic mission, an approach that stays true to the Christian call to evangelisation without neglecting the duty to take care of the physical needs of the poor.  The Baptist Missionary Society was founded in Kettering in 1792, the first of the ‘modern’ missionary societies, and it is entirely appropriate that Broadmead, a Northamptonshire Baptist church, should include BMS World Mission among the international organisations it supports.
  • Agape Alive in India is a Christian charity working with the poor and underprivileged in India.  Its aim is ‘to live the gospel, not just to preach it’. One of Broadmead’s members is a Trustee of this charity and Broadmead contributes towards its funds.
  • Tearfund is a Christian international aid and development agency working globally to end poverty and injustice, and to restore dignity and hope in some of the world’s poorest communities.  Broadmead supports it through occasional donations and special collections (such as the harvest festival collection).
  • Open Doors provides Bibles, Christian literature, training and practical support to the persecuted church worldwide. Each year Broadmead has one Sunday with a special focus on the work of Open Doors.
